CapNet-BD as a country partner of Global CapNet (www.cap-net.org)
is active to enhance human resources development for IWRM through strengthening
and establishment of local and regional networks to deliver education, training
and conducting research for improved management of water resources.
Country Secretariat
Country Secretariat of CapNet-BD is hosted by Bangladesh Centre for Advanced
Studies (BCAS) since March 2004.
Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) is an independent, non-profit,
non-government, policy, research, and implementation institute working on
sustainable development (SD) at local, national, regional and global levels.
BCAS addresses sustainable development through four interactive themes: (a)
environment-development integration, (b) good governance and people’s
participation, (c) poverty alleviation and sustainable livelihoods, and (d)
economic growth and public-private partnership. It was established in 1986, and
over the years has grown to become a leading institute in the non-government
sector in Bangladesh and South Asia. It works on the above issues using
interactive approaches and multiple methodologies. BCAS has been registered with
Social Welfare Department as well as NGO Affairs Bureau of Government of
Bangladesh (www.bcas.net).
Community based flood management training
Sirajganj & Gopalganj, December 2007. The workshop will be held at municipal
level in two flood prone districts (riverine flood). The possible
locations/districts include Sirajganj (Brahmaputra flood plain area) and
Faridpur (Padma flood plain area)
“Situational Analysis of
Capacity Building needs for IWRM in South Asia”
Over 150 water professionals of different government and non-government
Institutions were trained on IWRM concepts, principles and practices.
Over 100 young water professionals were trained on scientific methodology and
development of research proposals.
